Spartan for life Andre Rison not pushing Michigan State on his son

Andre Rison remains one of the top wide receivers to ever come out of Michigan State, but the former Spartan is letting his son make his decision on where he will play college football. Hunter Rison will not be playing college football for another couple of years as a prospective member of the Class of 2017, and his father, a former NFL wide receiver, is allowing him to take his time with the recruiting process before it really starts to heat up.

“We discuss things and I’m not pushing him toward a school,” Andre said in a story published by MLive.com on Monday. “Of course, I’m a former Spartan and current Spartan alumni, but it’s on him. I think he has the skill set to play anywhere without question. He wants to be the best player in not only the state but in the country.”

Hunter Rison recently visited Michigan State with his alumnus father, but he has also checked out Ohio State, USC and Tennessee. Arizona State also has been in the recruiting mix, after the younger Rison was previously playing high school football in Arizona. Hunter Rison moved and transferred to an Ann Arbor high school, where his father currently serves as an offensive coordinator. Rivals does not have a rating for Hunter Rison yet, although if he has his father’s genes then the odds are pretty decent he will be a pretty solid football player as well.
