Meniscus injury puts FSU safety Hunter on shelf for spring

Florida State safety Tyler Hunter will be forced to miss the rest of the spring practice schedule due to a torn meniscus. The rehab from the knee injury should take about six weeks, according to head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Hunter should be fine for the start of the season in the fall, but for now the Seminoles will move junior defensive back Jalen Ramsey back to safety, putting his position switch work on hold for the spring. The Seminoles will also give Trey Marshall, Marquez White and Ryan Green some extra looks as well.

It’s part of football,” Fisher said about Hunter’s injury and the roster shuffle that comes with it. “Next guy up. That’s why we recruit.”

It’s a good thing Florida State has been able to recruit so well in recent years. Hunter’s injury is the latest in a series of injuries to key players this spring. Starting center Ryan Hoefield underwent surgery for a meniscus injury. Just days ago Fisher announced a pair of linebackers -- Chris Casher and Matthew Thomas -- were lost for the spring because of shoulder injuries.
