WKU likely landing spot for transferring Vol A.J. Branisel

A handful of days after it was confirmed that he would be transferring from Tennessee and continuing his playing career elsewhere, it appears A.J. Branisel may very well have already found a new football home.

Knoxville radio host Jimmy Hyams tweeted earlier today that Branisel will be visiting the Western Kentucky campus this weekend. If all goes well, it seems, Branisel will sign on to play for the Hilltoppers.

If that turns out to be the case, the tight end would be forced to sit out the 2015 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules.

A three-star member of UT’s 2013 recruiting class, Branisel was rated as the No. 29 tight end in the country coming out of high school in Ohio.

As a true freshman, Branisel played in the Vols’ first 10 games before suffering a torn ACL and missing the final two games. In those 10 games, he caught three passes for 28 yards and a touchdown.
