Waiting on NCAA, Florida State freshman TE is practicing

He may not have been cleared by the NCAA to be eligible for the start of the 2015 season, yet, but Florida State freshman tight end Jalen Wilkerson is practicing with the defending ACC champs for when that day comes. That day could come very soon, if his presence at practice is any indication.

According to The Orlando Sentinel, Wilkerson has been out of practice for the past week and a half. An academic eligibility issue is in play because a course taken by Wilkerson in his freshman year has been red-flagged. He has retaken the course in question and is currently waiting for that to be cleared by the NCAA.

“We didn’t want to take the chance of him being a non qualifier,” Florid State head coach Jimbo Fisher said. “Nothing he did wrong or we did wrong.”

Wilkerson was rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals.
