New Mexico State team bus robbed while losing at Florida

New Mexico State was robbed in Gainesville, Florida, and it had nothing to do with a blown call from the officials during Florida’s blowout win over the visiting Aggies. New Mexico State football was actually robbed.

Upon arrival to a New Mexico State team bus following the blowout loss to the Florida Gators, director of athletics Mario Moccia shared news via Twitter the bus had been robbed. Thieves broke into the locked bus transporting athletic department officials and guests and took off with bags carrying laptop computers, house and car keys, passports and more. This was surely nothing anybody would look forward to returning to, especially after a big loss.

We’ll it’s a first. Our bus was broken into and all athletic dept staff and guests bags stolen inside! Not a joke pic.twitter.com/27aKcvbCGY

If there happen to be any bus drivers reading this, what is the typical routine like for a bus driver taking a team or a group to a game? Do drivers normally stay by the busses, or are they free to leave as long as everything is locked up? And who knows if the bus driver would have been in danger if the thieves responsible were armed? Here’s hoping New Mexico State’s athletics department personnel and guests have their stolen property returned in a timely manner.
