Alex Redmond signs with agent, won’t play in UCLA’s bowl game

Well, that’s kind of rude.

Dec. 26, UCLA will face Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl at the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium. The Bruins will do so without starting guard Alex Redmond, though, as head coach Jim Mora revealed Tuesday that Redmond will not play against the Cornhuskers... because he has signed with an agent and is making himself available for the April NFL draft next year.

OK then.

The last three years, his only three years with the Bruins, Redmond has started 31 games at guard for the program. He was a Freshman All-American in 2013 after signing with UCLA as a four-star recruit in February of that year.

Redmond started eight games in 2014 and earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors. After starting 10 games this season, Redmond failed to earn even honorable mention plaudits for an 8-4 team that had 12 players littered throughout the all-conference squad.
