Oklahoma’s three-game series with Temple will include one in Philly

The City of Brotherly Love meets Boomer Sooner? Hell, why not.

Wednesday afternoon, Temple announced that it has reached an agreement on a three-game series against Oklahoma. Two of the games will be played in Norman -- Aug. 31, 2024, and Sept. 2, 2028.

Sandwiched in between will be the Sooners traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Owls Sept. 13, 2025.

“We look forward to starting a series with a great program like Oklahoma and hosting the Sooners in Philadelphia,” said Temple athletic director Dr. Patrick Kraft in a statement. “Our goal is to continue to schedule the best games possible for our program, alums and the college football fans in the city.”

The two football programs have met twice previously. OU won both contests, a 9-6 win in 1940 at home and a 14-7 victory in 1942 at Temple Stadium.

The Owls have called Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, their rented home since the 2003 season. In February of this year, Temple’s board of trustees voted unanimously in favor of pursuing a new on-campus football stadium for the Owls program.
