Walk-on LSU punter charged with OVI

This past week has not been kind to the kicking situation at LSU.

In the middle of last week, placekicker Trent Domingue announced via social media that he was leaving the Tigers after not having his scholarship renewed. Now Monday brings word, via the Baton Rouge Advocate, that punter Bailey Raborn was arrested Sunday on a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired.

Other than Raborn rear-ending another vehicle, no details of the events surrounding the arrest have been released.

A school spokesperson told the Advocate that head coach Les Miles is “aware of the situation and is trying to gather information before making any comment.”

247Sports.com rated Raborn, who played his high school football in the state of Louisiana, as the No. 3 punter in the Class of 2016. Per the Advocate, Raborn spurned scholarship offers from, among others, Mississippi State and UCLA to join LSU as a preferred walk-on.

Australian Josh Growden is expected to handle the Tigers’ punting duties this season.
