Former Auburn RB says he felt ‘stereotyped and disrespected’ on the Plains

Auburn dismissed its leading returning rusher Jovon Robinson on Wednesday. It appears the feeling was mutual.

Robinson told AL.com he felt the coaching staff was unfairly harsh with him after showing leniency with wayward wideout Duke Williams a year ago. (Williams was eventually dismissed, too.)

“Everything about (the) Auburn coaching staff is not what it seems,” Robinson told the site. “Just because I don’t walk around with (a) fake smile, they feel like they (can) say or try to force anything.

“I was stereotyped and disrespected. The football players are not happy with this.”

ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reported Robinson was dismissed for missing classes and showing an inattention to detail. Robinson denies this. “It’s nothing about me missing class or not paying attention,” he said.

Head coach Gus Malzahn told the site on the Robinson-Williams comparison, “I’ll just say this year there’s going to be no distractions.”

With Robinson gone, Auburn’s leading returning rusher stands as sophomore Kerryon Johnson, who carried 52 times for 208 yards and three touchdowns last season.
