Coming off a huge win, Houston will err on the side of caution with a player who played a significant role in that victory -- and who they’ll rely on heavily in the chase for a playoff spot.
Greg Ward Jr. sustained an injury to his right (throwing) shoulder in UH’s 33-23 win over Oklahoma last Saturday. An MRI subsequently showed no structural damage in the shoulder, and the Cougars were cautiously optimistic that not only could the quarterback return to practice but also suit up for the Week 2 game against Lamar.

With Ward sidelined, Kyle Postma will get the start under center. The redshirt junior will be making his second career start, with the first coming against UConn last October.
It’s expected that Ward will be healthy enough to play in Thursday’s AAC opener against Cincinnati Thursday.
