WATCH: FSU’s Derwin James learns of torn meniscus

If you’re a Florida State football fan -- or even a college football fan -- and you’re not watching the latest version of Showtime‘s “A Season With...” series, you’re doing it wrong. The latest example of what’s fast becoming must-see TV comes courtesy of an injury that could have a significant impact on FSU’s defense for the foreseeable future.

Monday afternoon it was reported that Derwin James had sustained torn cartilage in his knee that forced the star safety to undergo surgery later on that day. As part of “A Season With Florida State Football,” Showtime cameras captured the moment when both James and his head coach, Jimbo Fisher, receive the news from the team’s orthopedic surgeon that it was a torn meniscus.

Perhaps the most startling aspect of the clip, which is part of the next episode of the series that debuts tonight at 10 p.m. ET, is how visibly shaken Fisher is upon hearing the diagnosis.

It’s expected James could return in as little as two weeks or as long as six.
