Coaches Poll: New look Top 25 says hello to Colorado, West Virginia, Boise State and Western Michigan

The Amway Coaches Poll says hello to a few newcomers this week, and it’s been a while since some of these new top 25 schools have been seen in the coaches poll. With a 4-1 start to the season, with the lone loss coming at Michigan, the coaches have deemed Colorado worthy of the No. 23 spot in their poll this week.

Alabama remains atop the coaches poll, as has been the standard operating procedure each week this season. Alabama received 57 first-place votes. No. 2 Ohio State picked up three first-place votes and No. 3 Clemson received two first-place votes following a win at home against Louisville. The Cardinals fell four spots in the coaches poll down to No. 8 this week. No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Houston, No. 6 Washington and No. 7 Texas A&M took advantage of the Louisville drop by moving up one, two or three spots this week. No. 9 Tennessee sneaks into the top 10 after a Hail Mary victory at Georgia, and No. 10 Miami rounds out this week’s top 10 after moving up four spots.

No. 13 Wisconsin dropped five spots, No. 15 Stanford and No. 21 Florida State each fell nine spots following losses. No. 22 Oklahoma returned to the top 25 following a win against TCU. Right behind the Sooners is former Big 12 foe Colorado. Colorado is joined by fellow newcomers to the poll this week including No. 19 Boise State, No. 20 West Virginia and No. 25 Western Michigan (for the first time in school history).

Michigan State, TCU, Georgia, San Diego State and Texas all dropped out of the poll this week to make room for the new members of the top 25.
