‘Medical condition’ keeps BC DC Jim Reid from NC State game

As Boston College looks to keep its bowl hopes alive, the Eagles are doing so without their defensive boss.

The football program confirmed Saturday that defensive coordinator Jim Reid is not with the team for today’s road game against North Carolina State. According to the school, the 65-year-old Reid is dealing with an undisclosed personal medical situation.

The Boston Herald reports that Reid “was taken by ambulance from the Yawkey Athletics Center at Boston College on Friday with an undisclosed medical condition.” It’s unknown whether the coach remains hospitalized.

Reid is in his first year as BC’s coordinator. In January, he was hired to replace Don Brown, who took the same job at Michigan a month earlier.

Entering Week 9, BC’s defense was ranked 44th in scoring and seventh in yards allowed per game. Former Syracuse and UConn head coach and current defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni has assumed Reid’s duties for today’s game.
