A&M confirms future home-and-home with Miami

Almost two weeks ago to the day, it was reported that Miami and Texas A&M were closing in finalizing a future series. Today, that finalizing has officially been finalized.

In a press release, A&M announced that they and The U have reached an agreement on a home-and-home football series. The Hurricanes will travel to College Station Sept. 17, 2022, with the Aggies returning the road trip favor Sept. 9, 2023.

“We are excited to announce this home-and-home series with the Hurricanes of Miami,” A&M athletic director Scott Woodward said in a statement. “Texas A&M and Miami are two of the premier, tradition-rich and storied football programs in the country.”

The two football programs have met three times previously, the first coming in 1944 and the last in 2008. The Hurricanes have won the last two meetings after the Aggies won the first 70-14, a game that was played on the day after the third anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

This A&M series gives UM at least one non-conference game against a Power Five opponent in each of the next nine seasons. In addition to four games against SEC schools (LSU in 2018 and Florida in 2019 in addition to A&M), The U has matchups scheduled with Notre Dame (2017, 2024, 2025), Rutgers (2019) and Michigan State (2020, 2021).

As of now, A&M has future Power Five home-and-homes scheduled with Clemson (2018, 2019), Colorado (2020, 2021) and Notre Dame (2024, 2025). In 2017, they’ll complete a home-and-home with UCLA that kicked off this season.
