Low-scoring Celebration Bowl sees NC Central leading as the bands take the field

The second annual Celebration Bowl has not shown a whole lot to celebrate after one half of play in Atlanta. North Carolina Central of the MEAC holds a narrow 3-0 lead on SWAC champion Grambling at the halftime break. Fortunately, the bands should light up the field during the halftime showcase.

Grambling looked to take a lead in the first quarter on a potential touchdown pass from Devante Kincade to Chad Williams, but an instant replay review overruled the call on the field. A couple of plays later, Grambling had to settle for a field goal try but the kick was no good from 30 yards. Grambling opened the game on offense but saw the game’s opening possession end on an impressive interception by Alden McClellon off a tipped pass.

NC Central had to settle for a field goal on the ensuing possession after dropping what looked like an easy touchdown in the end zone. That’s been the only scoring so far, as both teams have had a missed field goal and each has thrown an interception.
