Maryland RB Anthony McFarland leaves two years of eligibility on the table to enter draft early

Instead of a portal post, how about we start the morning feeling a little draft?

On his personal Twitter account Tuesday, Maryland’s Anthony McFarland became the latest FBS player to take the early leap into the 2020 NFL Draft pool after announcing that he came to the decision to forego his remaining eligibility “after careful consideration and deliberation with my family.”

“Reaching the highest level has always been a dream of mine and I can’t wait to seize the opportunity,” the running back, who had two seasons of eligibility remaining, added.

After redshirting his first season with the Terrapins, McFarland set a school record for freshmen with 1,034 yards in 2018. Injuries helped limit the back to just 614 yards this past season.

For his career, the 5-9, 198-pound McFarland averaged 6.7 yards per carry.
