Fortunately for all involved, this incident didn’t end up as bad -- or tragic -- as it could’ve.
North Carolina State cornerback Chris Ingram was cited Sunday evening discharging a weapon within city limits. Police were called to an off-campus apartment complex after a rifle accidentally discharged inside of the true junior’s residence.
“The bullet pierced a wall and entered an adjoining unoccupied apartment,” a police statement read, according to WNCN-TV in Raleigh.
No further details of the incident have been made available, and the football program has yet to comment publicly on the situation.
Ingram, a three-star 2017 signee, started every game but one in 2018. A leg injury helped limit Ingram to just six games during the 2019 regular season.
