Post-surgery ‘very positive’ for Seantrel; status for ’11 unknown

Shortly after it was reported that Seantrel Henderson would be undergoing back surgery this month and indefinitely sidelined, we were told by a person close to the mammoth Miami offensive lineman that, barring something unexpected, he “would be sidelined for the entire 2011 season.” At least a couple of other reports stated the surgery could sideline Henderson for the entire 2011 season.

Apparently, that may not be the case after all, with the operative word there being “may”. A very uncertain “may” at that.

Henderson underwent surgery Monday, with head coach Al Golden, The Sun-Sentinel reports, saying post-procedure that things were “very positive”. What’s still unknown is when Henderson will return for the 2011 season. Or if he even will be healthy enough for a return this year.

“What that means long term is still tenuous,” Golden said Monday after practice. “Hopefully, we’ll know more today. ...

“We’re going to start to learn more about what the rehab is going to consist of and the duration and where we’re at. I’m not the doctor, but everything we heard was as positive as it could be.”

Henderson started nine games at right tackle, but the lower-back issues that plagued him during the spring likely played at least a small role in his slipping to the No. 2 left tackle on the depth chart following the sessions earlier this year.
