‘Jameis Winston King Crab Legs’ for sale in Alabama?

Jameis Winston Crab Legs

Of course they are.  Would you expect anything less?

Late Wednesday morning, the college football world was “stunned” to learn that the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and quarterback of the BCS champion Florida State Seminoles, Jameis Winston, was cited by Leon County Sheriff’s deputies for shoplifting $32.72 worth of crab legs and crawfish.

Aside from 20 hours of community service, a $30 fine and what will be a brief suspension from the FSU baseball team, there will no real repercussions — unless you count yet another dent in what some would say is Winston’s ever-growing battered image.  What it most certainly did do, however, was unleash a torrent of bad puns (NCAA show-claws in the offing? He fought the claw and the claw won?) and Internet memes and photoshops — glorious, wonderful photoshops — that put the singular incident for which Winston apologized in its proper context.

It also, not so surprisingly, prompted at least one grocery store in the football-mad Deep South to take a mild but very public jab at the situation:

Jameis Winston Crab Legs Grocery

Well played, state of Alabama in general and city of Eva specifically.  “Troll Tide!” indeed.

(Writer’s note: yes, I’m quite certain that the cease-and-desist letter is already on its way to the grocery store in question…)

At least he didn’t rape anybody this time !

    No class.

It’s even more sad because he’s a hometown kid from Bessemer. As a former UA student I wish I could say that I expected more class, but unfortunately I don’t.

Not enough love for the pic of Winston with the crab legs. The perfect facial expression as well. Well done!

Besides the fact that our qb is an idiot, I’m glad random people can make money off of his name.

I went grocery shopping today and couldn’t find any of those crab legs for $17.99 a pound. He was really trying to score a bargain I guess.
Seems to me he got off pretty lightly as far as restitution goes in this case. Would the average Joe have gotten off that easy?

Jamarcus Russell the second, will never make the jump on ability alone. Does not have the it factor that an NFL QB has to have. See; Montana, manning, Favre, Brady, Bree’s, Wilson , etc……,

  11. ningenito78 says: May 2, 2014 12:54 AM

He won a National Championship and a Heisman as a freshman. How the hell does he not have the ‘it factor’? Hate the behavior all you want but if you think the kid can’t play you are seriously blind. Or a pink hat fanboy.

That picture of him holding the crab legs is just AWESOME!!!!!!

Just another typical Seahhawks troll trying to interject Russell Wilson into a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with him.

Before I read all the comments, the first thing that entered my mind was what others posted: if that store was really on their game, they have priced them at $32.72. Sorry for the redundancy, but that would have made the joke complete.

I’ll try to make up for the redundancy with this:

When you’re the Heisman Trophy winner, you’re seen on cable. When you’re seen on cable, you’re recognized everywhere you go. When you’re recognized everywhere you go, you feel entitled to take whatever you want. When you take whatever you want, sometimes you takes things you shouldn’t. When you take things you shouldn’t, you get villified in the media. Don’t get villified in the media. Get rid of cable. And upgrade to Direct TV.

Best I can do on short notice…

LMAO!!!!!………………….Swear to God that is the funniest post I’ve seen this year on CFT!….

    Great job!

You should have added, “Make Sure You don’t Watch the Main Stream Media Channels, if You Want to See the Real News”.
Possibly, you could have also added “And Make Sure to Blame It On Bush”. He made him do it, I am sure.

Thanks #dhardy. Good to see you on the board again. Season’s not that far away :) JT said he’s working hard on getting rid of the summer months so we can just get on to the college football season and quit wasting time.

Wow, even my 8yr old boy knows that you have to pay for stuffs before leaving a store!

    FLORIDA state!!!!!

  20. tipstopten says: May 2, 2014 6:35 PM

Just another Jock that thinks he can do what ever
because he is a Jock and star. Brake the law and pay the price. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time is
he has strayed for the straight and narrow. I hope his draft number goes to to 225, that would be the beginning of the 8th round and they only do 7.

  21. mrgolf98 says: May 3, 2014 6:42 AM

This is the classical “TEACHABLE MOMENT”

We have a celebrated student who has broken the law—FSU has the unique opportunity to not only help this person in character development, but to reaffirm University standards and help guide the entire student body.

Please look at the greater good………………..

Provide Mr Winston an opportunity to work on character development and reclaim his dignity.

Time off from football, counseling, and self improvement classes are in order……………….
