Gators reportedly ‘losing’ K Austin Hardin to transfer, too

Yet another Florida football player has decided to hightail it out of Gainesville, although this particular subtraction may bring a smile to many a Gator fan’s face.

According to multiple media outlets, placekicker Austin Hardin has decided to transfer out of Jim McElwain‘s program and continue his playing career elsewhere. The addition of JUCO transfer Eddy Pineiro in this year’s class likely sealed Hardin’s decision.

Hardin was the focus of much angst and scorn after he hit on just 5 of his 14 (35.7 percent) field goal attempts. For his career, he was 16 of 36 (44.4 percent) on those attempts, with four of those 20 misses blocked.

Things were so bad for Hardin last season that McElwain brought a dental student onto the roster as the backup kicker after a walk-on tryout in October.

In addition to Hardin, it was reported Sunday that offensive lineman Travaris Dorsey is transferring as well.
