Arizona TE to do the NFL leap

Rob Gronkowski has scheduled a press conference for Friday to announce what his immediate football future will entail.

According to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, it won’t be good news for Arizona’s offense in 2010.

Per Schad, and citing a source close to the tight end, Gronkowski will announce tomorrow that he is foregoing his final year of eligibility and making himself available for the 2010 draft.

Even as Gronkowski missed the entire 2009 season due to a back injury, the move comes as no surprise. Gronkowski’s father said last week that, if they were to get a positive medical prognosis before the Jan. 15 deadline, the odds of his son returning to the Wildcats were slim.

Schad reported that doctors gave Gronkowski medical clearance, which likely means he should be relatively healthy by the time the NFL combine rolls around.

Gronkowski becomes the third draft-eligible player at his position to declare ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. And, of course, we knew that because we clicked HERE.
