LB A.J. Jones ready to return to Gators after torn ACL

In an unbelievable turn of events, there is actually (gasp!) some good news to report on the college football front this morning.

During Florida’s late-November win over Florida International, linebacker A.J. Jones suffered what turned out to be a season-ending knee injury. Six and a half months later, Jones has declared himself ready to go for the start of summer camp.

“I’m good,’ Jones told the St. Petersburg Times. “I’m full go. I just saw the doctor for the last time today and he cleared me. I tore two ligaments in my knee - my MCL and ACL. I got hurt in December, so it’s been about six months.”

Jones, who has started 29 games during his time in Gainesville, said he was motivated to return as soon as possible not just for himself, but for his teammates and the program as well.

“I know I’m working for something now, I’m a part of this team and that’s my real motivation. You want to be accountable, you don’t want to let your teammates down.”
