USC might flip the script, reel in a transfer of their own

For the better part of two months, when the words “transfer” and “USC” have appeared in the same sentence, it invariably involved the Trojans losing a player to another school.

In the near future, however, USC might actually pick up a player who decided to leave his former school.

According to Heather Dinich of ESPN.com‘s ACC blog, former Miami wide receiver Thearon Collier is talking to USC officials about transferring to the school. Collier confirmed he was interested in a school out west, writing/yelling on his Facebook page earlier this week that “THS MY LAST WEEK IN MIA B4 I HEAD OFF TO CALI TO PERSUIT MY FOOTBALL CAREER ...”

(We’ll allow English teachers in the audience a chance to stop cringing and/or convulsing before continuing... and... and... we’re good.)

It was reported Aug. 2 that a series of off-field incidents led to Collier’s departure from the Hurricanes. Regardless of the specific reason, Collier was released from his scholarship earlier this month.

Collier returned two punts for touchdowns last season -- the first player at Miami to accomplish that feat since Devin Hester in 2004 -- and finished his Miami career with 45 receptions for 574 yards and three touchdowns.
