West Virginia may get starting corner back for LSU

Indefinitely suspended following a DUI arrest Sept. 12, cornerback Brandon Hogan may see his punishment lifted in time to play this weekend.

The starting defensive back, who sat out the Mountaineers’ win over Maryland, returned to practice for the first time Tuesday since the arrest. Head coach Bill Stewart wouldn’t rule Hogan in for Saturday’s game, but didn’t rule him out either.

“Brandon Hogan is in an evaluation period by me,” Stewart said according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “He is going to practice, that’s his status.

“I don’t know if he will play this week, and I don’t know if he won’t play this week. If he is to play this week, he will have earned the right to play, according to my standards, and my standards alone.”

Hogan has started 24 games for the Mountaineers, including the first two games of 2010.
