Dion Lewis dodges draft questions following Pitt’s bowl win

It was reported last week that, barring an unexpected change of heart, Dion Lewis would announce this week that he will be leaving Pittsburgh for the NFL draft.

In the locker room following the Panthers’ 27-10 win over Kentucky in the BBVA Compass Bowl, the running back was asked about his football future. And, much like he is to defensive players, he proved very elusive to pin down on a decision.

I have yet to make a decision, I am just staying focused on the team,” Lewis said according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

“I will have a conversation with my parents and a couple of coaches, and we will go from there. Pitt is a great program, I never played on a team where everybody loved each other the way we do here at Pitt, and that will be one of the bigger things I remember if I do decide to leave.”

If Lewis does do the expected and takes his leave of the Pitt football program, he’ll do so by going out on top, relatively speaking. The back rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, and was named the bowl game’s MVP.
