A left scapular fracture forced Lyndell Gibson to miss Virginia Tech’s Orange Bowl loss to Stanford, and the subsequent surgery to repair the damage left in doubt the linebacker’s availability for the start of spring practice late next month.
After the events of earlier this month, that availability is even further in doubt.
According to the Virginian-Pilot, the redshirt sophomore was arrested Feb. 5 and charged with driving while intoxicated. No details of what led to the arrest were available.
The school has yet to comment on Gibson’s arrest.
With the exception of the Orange Bowl, Gibson started every game in 2010. The past two seasons, he’s started a combined 18 games.
