Urban Meyer’s daughter calls out ESPN

Memo to current ESPN analyst and former Florida head coach Urban Meyer: you might want to have a little sit-down with your children when it comes to social media and what they decide to put out there for public consumption.

Last week, one of Meyer’s daughters went all “OMG!!! WTF!!! LOL!!!” on rumors that her dad was bound for Columbus in 2012. Thursday, it appears Meyer’s other daughter has taken issue with her father’s current employer.

In a tweet posted on her Twitter account Wednesday night, Gisela “Gigi” Meyer -- Urban’s middle child -- made it perfectly clear that her father is not spending an acceptable amount of time with the family due to his current, non-coaching job.

On January 1 of this year, shortly before Meyer coached his final game as UF’s head coach, Gigi Meyer posted the following tweet, which was eerily reminiscent of her older sister’s reaction to their father’s first “retirement":

When Meyer stepped down -- again -- as UF’s head coach Dec. 8, 2010, his now-former school released a statement on his behalf. Here are the first two paragraphs from that official release:

“I have been a Division I football coach for the last 25 years and, during that time, my primary focus has been helping my teams win titles. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, and I am a fierce competitor to my core. At this time in my life, however, I appreciate the sacrifices my 24/7 profession has demanded of me, and I know it is time to put my focus on my family and life away from the field. The decision to step down was a difficult one.

“But after spending more than two decades motivating and celebrating the young men I’ve been so proud to coach, I relish the opportunity to cheer for my three terrific kids as they compete in their own respective sports. I know how fortunate I am to be in a position to make this choice and to have a family that is as loving and supportive as my amazing wife and children have always been.”

Apparently, based on that tweet noted above, at least one family member feels that daddy ain’t holding up his end of the retirement bargain to their satisfaction.
