A&M, K-State among handful of schools drawing Cody Green’s interest

Two weeks after officially receiving a release from his Nebraska scholarship, and as expected, Cody Green is drawing interest from several Div. 1-A programs.

In a conversation with HuskerOnline.com, the quarterback said that he’s spoken to three schools from the Cornhuskers’ soon-to-be former conference as well as two from Conference USA.

“Right now, it’s really in the beginning, feelers stage,” Green told the website. “I’ve talked to Tulsa, U of H, (Texas) A&M, K-State and Baylor. Mostly the guys who already I had a previous relationship with through high school. They were all right there the minute I declared I was going to leave.”

Green has already visited one of those campuses and will likely visit another in short order, with a decision on a new football home probably coming at some point in the next month.

“I made a visit to Kansas State this week and it went well. Coach (Bill) Snyder and those guys are a class act,” Green said. “When you have a legend like coach Snyder, everything feeds off of him. He’s like coach (Tom) Osborne in that way. Their whole coaching staff are great guys to be around. I had a lot of fun.

“I’ll probably be visiting Tulsa pretty soon too. I really would like to have my decision made and over with before the second session of summer school begins. I’d love to be enrolled and working with the guys before fall camp rolls around.”

Green played in 17 games during his two seasons in Lincoln, starting four of those contests. He exited spring practice behind starter and redshirt sophomore Taylor Martinez (no relation) on the depth chart, and that was apparently at least part of the impetus for the decision to seek a transfer.

A four-star member of Nebraska’s 2009 recruiting class, Green was rated as the No. 6 dual-threat QB by Rivals.com.
