RichRod signs on as a broadcaster with CBS Sports

There’s little doubt that former Michigan and West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez will return to the sidelines one day (and this guy’s money is on Clemson; Mike Florio‘s is on WVU), but in the meantime, it looks as though Rodriguez will have something to do during the week until that next job offer comes around.

CBS Sports announced today that Rodriguez has been hired by the broadcasting company as a game and studio analyst for the 2011 season. He will serve as a color analyst with play-by-play announcer Dave Ryan and appear on CBS’ weekly studio show.

This will not be Rodriguez’s first time in front of the camera. Over the past few months, Rodriguez has served as a guest analyst for both CBS on National Signing Day and HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.

Rodriguez was dismissed as Michigan’s head coach in January after three seasons and a 15-22 overall record.

We’ve been pretty hard on RichRod over the past couple of years here at CFT, but from personal experience I can tell you that Rodriguez knows how to turn on the charisma when he’s in front of the camera, so this will be a good change-of-pace gig for him.
