Buckeye LB says he’s headed to Ball State

On Thursday, both an updated roster and his former high school coach indicated that Jonathan Newsome could very well be on his way out of the Ohio State football program.

Friday, the linebacker confirmed as much via a social media website.

On his Twitter feed this evening, Newsome indicated that he will be leaving the Buckeyes and will transfer to Ball State. Later in his Twitter timeline, Newsome wrote that “Its a long story but i need a fresh start”.

The school has yet confirm Newsome’s status with the program. ball State has yet to confirm the move as well.

In order to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, Newsome would be required to sit out the 2011 season if the move does indeed come to fruition. Beginning in 2012, he would have two years of eligibility remaining.

Newsome was a three-star member of OSU’s 2009 recruiting class. He played in 13 games last season.
