Greene’s ankle injury won’t keep him from missing time next season

Rutgers’ Pinstripe Bowl win over Iowa State yesterday was dampened every so slightly by the ankle injury to star linebacker Khaseem Greene.

The Big East co-Defensive Player of the year was carted off the field after his ankle twisted awkwardly on a rush of ISU quarterback Steele Jantz.

There hasn’t been an official diagnosis of the injury yet, but Greene sounded optimistic it wouldn’t affect his future playing status.

I feel good. I feel real good,” Greene said. “It’s not anything that’s going to keep me out of competitive football. I just have to take my time and rehab. I’m not going to miss any time for next year.”

Greene had announced last week that he would stay one more year at Rutgers instead of declaring for the NFL Draft. Greene said yesterday he doesn’t regret that decision.

“God does everything for a reason. I’m a firm believer in that. This isn’t a setback at all for me.”
