Probation issue leaves Stonum’s future at Michigan up in the air?

Already indefinitely suspended by the Michigan football program, Darryl Stonum‘s future at the school after running into an issue with his probation officer is once again uncertain.

According to multiple media outlets, Stonum was pulled over by Ann Arbor police Thursday morning and ticketed for driving with a revoked license. The wide receiver was arrested on a drunk-driving charge in May -- the second time that’s happened during his time with the Wolverines -- and was sentenced in June to two year’s probation and has his license stripped as well.

Stonum already had a probation review scheduled for Friday morning. It’s likely this alleged violation will come up during the course of the review.

The senior spent three days in jail in 2010 for repeated probation violations stemming from his first drunk-driving charge in 2008.

In May of 2011, Stonum was indefinitely suspended by first-year head coach Brady Hoke following the second alcohol-related arrest. He ultimately took a redshirt for the 2011 season in order to get his off-field life in order, leaving him with one year of eligibility remaining.

At a previously scheduled press conference, Hoke said today there’s been no change to Stonum’s status with the team.

“Until we know everything, it hasn’t changed,” the coach said.

Stonum had started 25 of the 36 games in which he’d played since coming to Michigan as a member of their 2008 recruiting class. He finished second on the Wolverines in receptions (49) and receiving yards (633) in 2010.
