Almost exactly a year to the day of receiving a one-year contract extension, it’s déjà vu all over again for Bret Bielema.
In a posting to its official website Friday, Wisconsin acknowledged that the Badgers’ head football coach was one of several UW athletic coaches on the receiving end of extensions and/or new contracts. As it pertains to Bielema, his current deal was extended by a year.
Bielema is now signed through Jan. 31, 2017. There was no mention of whether a raise was involved as it was last year.
In 2011, Bielema made just under $2.6 million.
In six seasons with the Badgers, Bielema has compiled a 60-19 record and will be coming off back-to-back-to-back 10-win-plus seasons. He’s led UW to back-to-back Rose Bowls the past two seasons, although the Badgers have been on the losing end for each of those appearances.
