OL coach out at Georgia Tech?

Back in December, Paul Johnson stated that he didn’t foresee any changes in his coaching staff headed into the 2012 offseason. A month into this offseason, however, it appears a coaching change is on the horizon.

Both coachingsearch.com and Rivals.com’s Georgia Tech website are reporting that co-offensive line coach Todd Spencer is not expected to return to the coaching staff this season. There was no reason given by either site for the departure.

The school told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they “don’t have an announcement” to make regarding Spencer’s status. Spencer is still listed on Tech’s official website.

It’s unclear if NCAA issues are at the core of Johnson’s decision to part ways with Spencer. The line coach was suspended for the 2011 season opener for making impermissible calls to recruits from February through June 2010.

Spencer had just completed his fourth season with the Yellow Jackets.
