Iowa might be without leading rusher for Penn State game

After a weeks-long sabbatical, it appears the AIRBHG is back on duty in Iowa City.

As Mark Weisman was scoring the game-tying touchdown with under a minute left against Michigan State, he suffered an injury to his right foot. The injury kept him out of the overtime session of the win, and that may be the case this weekend as well.

Weisman was not listed on the Hawkeyes’ depth chart headed into Penn State week, a sure sign that the chances are fairly good the former walk-on transfer may not be available this weekend.

Suffice to say, the loss of Weisman would be a significant blow to Iowa’s running game.

In the first two games of the season, Weisman rushed for eight yards on two carries. In the four games since, the back has rushed for 623 yards and scored eight touchdowns.

Should Weisman be a no-go against the Nittany Lions, freshman Greg Garmon, third on the team with 35 yards, would likely shoulder the bulk of the running-game load. Provided AIRBHG doesn’t strike first, of course.

Iowa’s second-leading rusher, Damon Bullock, is still on the mend from a concussion he suffered in mid-September.
