Irish could get third-leading receiver back for BCS championship

Notre Dame keeps getting the luck of the Irish.*

(*Laziest, corniest lede everrrrrrrrrrr)

Coach Brian Kelly announced Monday that two of the Irish’s better interior lineman -- offensive lineman Zack Martin and nose tackle Louis Nix -- would be returning for their senior season. During that press conference, Kelly also said that wide receiver DaVaris Daniels is on pace to make a possible comeback in the BCS championship game against Alabama.

Daniels sustained a broken clavicle during a win over Boston College last month and was expected to miss the rest of the season. There was hope, however, that Daniels could make it back in time for the postseason. Kelly confirmed that optimism, adding that Daniels is transitioning from non-contact drills to full contact.

He looks really good,” Kelly said. “He’s going to be able to be a key contributor for us.”

Although Daniels does not have a touchdown reception on the year, he is the team’s third-leading receiver with 25 receptions for 375 yards.
