Louisville’s leading rusher not in school, will miss spring practice

When Louisville takes the field for the start of spring practice next month, the Cardinals will do so without a key piece of its offensive puzzle. Whether that absence bleeds into summer camp or even the regular season remains to be seen.

According to Andrea Adelson of ESPN.com, running back Jeremy Wright will not participate in the 15 spring practice sessions as he’s currently not enrolled in classes at the school. No reason was given as to why Wright is not enrolled.

The sudden uncertainty over Wright’s future availability comes as Senorise Perry, the Cardinals leading rusher for much of the 2012 season, continues to rehab a torn ACL. Perry suffered the injury in early November and will not participate in contact drills during the spring. He should be available for the start of summer camp, although that’s not yet set in stone.

Last season, Wright led the Cardinals with 824 yards rushing and his 10 rushing touchdowns were one behind the leader Perry. He also totaled 41 receptions as a receiver coming out of the backfield.
