Ex-WVU WR cleared to play for NC State this fall

Though he transferred from West Virginia last fall, new North Carolina State wide receiver Travares Copeland will be able to play for the Wolfpack in 2013.

According to his Twitter account, Copeland received a clearance from the NCAA that will allow him to play immediately.

“God is great even though I transferred from West Virginia University, I don’t have to sit out this year,” he said. “I will be playing this year for NC State.”

The report from Rivals.com did not specify on what grounds Copeland received permission. In any case, he has three years of eligibility remaining.

Copeland did not record any stats through the first five games of last season, but ended up with 10 catches for 55 yards in three games as he worked his way into the Mountaineers’ receiver rotation. However, in early November, and shortly after his best game of the year against TCU, he transferred from the program for “personal reasons.”
