Kentucky RB Raymond Sanders suspended for Tennessee game

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops announced on Monday that he has suspended the Wildcats’ leading rusher, Raymond Sanders, for Saturday’s Tennessee game due to a violation of team rules.

''He’s not kicked off the team or anything like that. He just can’t play in this game,” Stoops said.

Sanders has 464 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. He also sat out most of the first half of Kentucky’s 59-17 loss to Georgia this past weekend, also for disciplinary reasons.

“I think he’s a good person,” Stoops said. “I am disappointed in a few decisions that he made, but he’s a good person.”

This isn’t the first time Sanders has faced disciplinary action in his career.

Without Sanders, Kentucky will probably turn to freshman Jo Jo Kemp to carry the load against the Volunteers. Kemp is just behind Sanders with 460 rushing yards and three scores. Whatever the case, this is not a team that runs the ball very well anyway. If the ‘Cats are going to have a chance to beat the Vols, they’ll have to get it done through the air.
