Thursday, the deadline for filing draft early-entry paperwork, brought word that Stanford would see its long-time starting quarterback return for another season. The same day, the defense received a boost as well.
On his Twitter account yesterday evening, Wayne Lyons confirmed that, as mostly expected, he will return to the Cardinal for another season. The fact that the defensive back was projected as a late-round pick by most likely played some role in his decision.
I have decided to stay in school and take advantage of an opportunity to get better in my fifth year of eligibility! !

Lyons played in all 41 games the past three seasons for Stanford, starting all 13 games in 2013. He shared the starting job in 2014.
The return of Lyons is a boon for a Cardinal secondary that is losing three starters from the 2014 squad, two to expired eligibility and one to early to the NFL.
