A&M’s Speedy Noil reportedly suspended for bowl, 2016 opener

Apparently, the tumult in College Station is not limited strictly to the quarterback position.

According to a report from GigEm247.com, Speedy Noil has been suspended for Texas A&M’s Music City Bowl matchup with Louisville Dec. 30. Not only that, but the wide receiver, per the report, is suspended for the 2016 regular season opener against UCLA.

No reason was given for the suspension, and the school has yet to address any availability issues on Noil’s part.

If the report comes to fruition, it would be the second suspension for Noil this season. In mid-November, Noil didn’t play against Western Carolina because of violations of unspecified team rules. Additionally, Noil took some time off from football this past spring “to do some things.”

As a true freshman in 2014, Noil was third on the team with 583 receiving yards and five touchdowns, while his 46 receptions were fourth. He also averaged 12 yards on 15 punt returns and 22.7 on 28 kick returns.

Thanks in large part to the emergence of Freshman All-American Christian Kirk, Noil’s numbers have been cut more than half this season. In nine games, Noil has caught 21 passes for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He’s returned just two punts for 17 yards, while his 11 kick returns have netted him 241 yards.
