Eddie Jackson opts for return to Alabama over NFL draft

Wednesday, linebacker Tim Williams decided to return to Alabama for another season. A day later, one of his standout defensive teammates has done the same.

All-American Eddie Jackson posted a tweet to his Twitter account late Thursday morning revealing that he will be eschewing the opportunity to make himself available for the NFL draft and will instead return in 2016 as the Tide looks to go win back-to-back titles for the second time this decade. “It Feel Good To Be Coming Back With My Brothers For Another Year...Lets Get It,” the safety tweeted.

In his first season as a safety -- he was a cornerback the first two years -- Jackson led the team with six interceptions, including one in the second quarter national championship game that helped swing some momentum back to the Tide. Jackson returned six of his interceptions for touchdowns, while his 230 return yards on those picks set a school record. He also had eight pass defenses, good for fifth on the team.

While two have returned, the Tide has a handful of draft-eligible players to still make a decision one way or the other. Those decisions are expected to be announced at some point today.

All draft-eligible players have until Monday, Jan. 18, to file their paperwork with the NFL.
