Hokies get better news on Ryan Williams injury front

Each of the previous three Thursdays, Ryan Williams has been listed as “out” on Virginia Tech’s weekly injury report.

Today, the running back wasn’t ruled out on the report. Then again, he wasn’t ruled in either.

Williams has been hampered by a hamstring injury that’s kept him out of the past three games, but is listed as questionable on today’s injury report. While it’s no guarantee that the player who rushed for over 1,600 yards and 21 touchdowns last season will return this weekend against Wake Forest, it appears there’s at least a chance he’ll see the field.

Then again, an odd set of numbers would say that the Hokies don’t really need to rush Williams back before he’s 100-percent healthy.

In one of the more head-scratching statistics of the season, and probably apropos of nothing, the Hokies are 3-0 in the games Williams has missed, 1-2 in the games he’s started.
