Forcier’s decision could have positive impact on ‘Zona

With Tate Forcier‘s transfer to Miami officially official, it appears highly likely that you can cross the Hurricanes off of Tom Savage‘s to-do list.

Another school roughly 2,200 miles west, however, may be a different matter entirely.

As Lil’ Big Ben noted late last week, Savage told the Tucson Citizen that he will head to Arizona on a recruiting trip on Feb. 15. It’s not only Savage’s first visit since announcing his transfer Jan. 8, it’s the only that he has scheduled. And it could be, like Forcier, his only visit.

Shortly after Forcier’s decision became public, Citizen writer Anthony Gimino tweeted the following:

“So Tate Forcier going to Miami; I don’t think he was really interested in [the Arizona Wildcats] anyway. Tom Savage could be different story.”

The QB situation with the Wildcats could be perfect for someone with the experience of Savage; Arizona’s top two quarterbacks -- Nick Foles and Matt Scott -- will be seniors in 2011. And, as noted by the paper, it could make someone like Savage an attractive recruit for the school.

Savage would like to make a decision at some point in the not-too-distant future and be at his new collegiate home by early summer. He will be forced to sit out the 2011 season to satisfy the NCAA transfer rules.
