George Brown becomes latest LSU player to transfer

For at least the 10th time since last December, LSU is losing a player to transfer.

The father of offensive lineman George Brown Jr. has confirmed to the Baton Rouge Advocate that his son has decided to leave the Tigers and continue his playing career elsewhere. The father said the son “didn’t feel [LSU] was the place for him.”

“He felt better to go with another staff and go play somewhere else. He’s not mad at LSU,” George Brown Sr. told the Advocate. “LSU is a great school, great place to be. We love LSU. I’m not the one playing. My son decided he wanted to be somewhere else. He didn’t feel that was the place for him. We don’t have an issue. We love coach Miles and all of the staff there. He just decided that he would take his talents other places.”

According to the father, Brown will choose from either Miami, Michigan State, Penn State and UCLA as his next home, and will make a decision at some point this week. He’ll have to sit out the 2016 season, and would then have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017.

Brown was a three-star 2015 recruit and was the No. 24 player at any position in the state of Ohio. He didn’t see the field as a true freshman.

Wide receiver Tyron Johnson (HERE) and quarterback Anthony Jennings (HERE) are the two most high-profile LSU transfers, with the former landing at Oklahoma State and the latter at Louisiana-Lafayette. Others who have left the building include defensive end Sione Teuhema (HERE), wide receivers Trey Quinn (HERE), Kevin Spears (HERE), John Diarse (HERE) and Tony Upchurch (HERE), offensive tackle Jevonte Domond (HERE) and fullback Ronnie Feist (HERE).
