Fitz Toussaint has DUI charge reduced, pleads guilty

Yesterday, John noted that Michigan running back Fitz Toussaint was still atop the Wolverines’ depth chart for Saturday’s game against Alabama despite the fact that no decision had been made on whether he would play.

However, Toussaint’s legal problem seems to have been taken care of for the most part. Will playing time follow?

It’s still not clear.

Toussaint pleaded guilty to a reduced charge Tuesday of operating a vehicle while visibly impaired, a misdemeanor. He was originally facing a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated which resulted in his suspension last month. Officially, Toussaint will be sentenced on Oct. 23. He could up to 93 days in jail, a $300 fine and 360 hours of community service.

A team spokesperson told Mlive.com that Toussaint’s plea has not affected his status with the team and coach Brady Hoke maintained Monday that the court appearance would not sway his decision.

In 11 games last season, Toussaint led all UM running backs with 1,041 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
