Four Utah State football players injured in car accident

It has been a rough time for college football and auto accidents over the last week, and unfortunately there is more unfortunate news to share Friday evening.

It is being reported multiple Utah State football players were among the six critically injured in a car accident involving an SUV and a tractor trailer. FOX 13 in Salt Lake City says officials have confirmed five of the victims are Utah State football players, however there are other reports saying four involved are Utah State football players. The names of those involved have not been released at this time. The identity of the another victim, a female, has also not been released, nor has information on who was driving the vehicle.

What has been released is the description of the accident from Utah Highway Patrol, which says an SUV traveling on highway 142 stopped at what may have been thought to be a four-way stop. When the SUV pulled out into the intersection, the semi trailer collided with the vehicle, as the intersection was only a two-way stop instead.

Yesterday Lafayette player Brian Keller passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on Tuesday. Last week Troy offensive lineman Corey McCullers was killed in a car accident in Alabama. McCullers was involved in a multi-vehicle accident and was ruled dead on the scene as police arrived. Missouri defensive lineman Harold Brantley was first reported to suffer serious injuries in a separate car accident, a rollover wreck. Brantley suffered a broken tibia, knee ligament damage and multiple fractured ribs. His status has since been upgraded to good following knee surgery.

Stay safe on the roads.
