Warrant issued for Colorado WR Simas

The roller coaster career of Colorado’s Markques Simas has taken yet another downward turn as a warrant has been issued for the wide receiver’s arrest, the Boulder Daily Camera is reporting.

Simas was arrested on suspicion for driving under the influence on Feb. 12 and he pleaded not guilty during a March 29 hearing. However, Simas failed to show for a hearing on May 12, and a warrant for failure to appear was issued on May 17.

Simas, who was second on the team in receiving last season, was suspended by head coach Dan Hawkins immediately following the arrest, but was reinstated almost exactly a month later after missing the first three days of spring practice.

It’s unclear how this failure to appear will be treated by Hawkins.
