The upheaval in South Florida continues, with Miami cornerback Trajan Bandy the latest to abandon ship.
On Instagram Friday, Bandy announced that he is forgoing his senior season to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. The defensive back cited “a number of unforeseen off the field circumstances and discussions with my family” as the impetus for his decision.
Bandy had another year of eligibility plus a redshirt season at his disposal.
A four-star member of the Hurricanes’ 2017 recruiting class, Bandy was rated as the No. 30 corner in the country.
Bandy played in all 13 games as a true freshman, starting three of those contests. The past two seasons, he started all 26 games. He was third-team All-ACC in 2018, and honorable mention all-conference this past season.
He was the second U player to declare for the draft at week’s end. On social media, running back DeeJay Dallas did the expected and confirmed he’s leaving the Hurricanes early.
The twin announcements came one day after Miami’s season ended with an embarrassing bowl loss. It also came the same day The U fired its offensive coordinator, hours after its first-year head coach was given a public vote of confidence.
